Sip and Savour an event benefiting the BC Women's Newborn ICU
The inception of Sip and Savour arose from Numpfer founder Sarah Robbin’s desire to give back to the BC Women’s Newborn ICU. Sarah’s own baby daughter, Charlotte, spent her first three days of life here.
Sarah’s experience at BC Women’s Newborn ICU led to another gift. Sarah observed that the design of the absorbent washcloths the nurses used as bibs could be improved to enhance babies’ comfort. “The market did not supply bibs that provided full coverage, resulting in a very wet outfit. Once home I couldn’t find the functional, absorbent, soft yet stylish bib I was searching for – and so I created multi use super soft bibs to enhance the babies comfort - and numpfer was born.”
The last three years of this inaugural event was a monumental success, demonstrating the incredible power of community and raising over $150,000 to purchase life saving equipment for the sickest babies in our province. The generous support of individuals, businesses and non-profit foundations made this possible. The donation of time and resources including the venue, photography, a photo booth, gifts, food and drink all allowed this special night to play an important role in giving a helping hand to brand new babies in need of additional medical support.
This last three years Sip and Savour was hosted by long-time NICU supporter, Tamara Taggart. Event-goers have “sipped and savoured” from some of Vancouver’s top food and drinks from acclaimed restaurants like Hawksworth, Minami, Fable, The Mackenzie Room, The Acorn, TUC Craft Kitchen, Juke Fried Chicken and many more. A silent auction featuring more than 75 items from the best small businesses around B.C. further entice and delight our guests – all for an incredibly worthy cause.
